1/2 Marathon {personal}

I DID IT!! Last weekend I ran 13.1 miles along with many thousands of other fellow runners/walkers. I have been training with a group of amazingly supportive group of people at Southside elementary, and I know I could not have done this without their support and encouragement! Here are some of my TEAM that I trained with this Winter!

I had so many emotions going through my head the months, weeks, days, and even minutes leading up to the race… I felt nervous, because I wondered, could I reach my goal? I felt excited, because I was pretty sure I could! I felt anxious about what the experience would make me feel. I felt emotional, because, well, lets face it, I am emotional about everything!! And last, I felt proud of being able to stay focused and accomplish a goal.

Here is a picture after I crossed the finish line (and before the tornadoes came!)! Thank you for all my family and friends for coming out and supporting me on this day! And a BIG thank you to my husband who listened and comforted me through all the aches, pains, doubts, and excitements throughout the last 16 weeks! You are the best!

Mason {Children}

I love when my clients choose the locations for their photo session! It really makes the moments captured that day so much more special, and you can really see a difference when the children are in a comfortable, familiar place. Another reason I love it is, many times, it means I get to go to a new location to take pictures, which gets my energy going!!

So last week, I got to head out to the country and play with Mason! Boy is he a doll! We were playing on trucks, in the dirt, laying in fields, and trying to climb up trees. He is such a happy little boy and I am so glad to get to work with his family. We had a gorgeous spring day, the trees were blooming and the grass was the greenest I have ever seen! Take a look at my favs from the day!

Thanks Mason for letting me play on your farm for the afternoon!

Elizabeth {6 months, family}

Meet precious Elizabeth! She is dainty little thing and as cute as can be! We went out to Centennial Park for this session, right when all the flowers were in bloom! I love spring for this exact reason! Everything looks and feels bright, happy. Puts a little “spring” in my step! We also got some shots of this new little family as well. Take a look through some of my favorites from the day!

Thanks Akers Family for letting me capture your little girl and getting to know your family a little better!

Leeson {6 months, baby}

Sorry, I have been MIA the past few weeks!  I have been fabulously busy! I am loving this weather and have been outside every moment possible.  Between session and training for the Music City 1/2 Marathon (10 days and counting…), I am SUPER excited about the change in seasons.

Here are some pictures of a session I recently had with 6 month old Leeson.  He is such a doll and we had perfect weather for the day!

Thanks for taking a look and check back again soon! The next couple of weeks are full of new sessions!

IN-Camera {Workshop}

Last weekend I got the GREAT privilege to attend a workshop, taught by Zach and Jody Grey, of Grey Photography! AMAZING to say the least,  and I was so excited the entire time.  I don’t think I stopped smiling once during the class (even with the rain, cold, and muddy flip flopped feet) .  Jody  & Zach were so helpful and took the time to really answer any questions that we had.  They truly have a gift of teaching and photography.  The entire class was focus getting our images correct “IN-CAMERA” so that there is much less time post-process.  Which means, more time shooting, less time editing! We learned how to custom white balance, and this makes all the difference in the coloring in your pictures.

Here are some of the pictures I took that day with our 2 amazing models.  And really, this took less than 15 minutes to edit!!! I am smiling big time!!

I cannot wait till next weekend where I am talking 2 more classes from Zach and Jody on using off camera lighting!
