Simplicity… something that my life has been far from for the last two years.  As most of you know, I have been basically working two full time jobs.  Teaching an amazing group of kids with special needs, as well as running a photography business.  Both jobs are wonderful.  Both jobs are inspiring and creative.  Both jobs are emotional and stressful.  During the last two years,  my path has felt blurred and a little manic (okay…maybe very manic), as I have tried to maintain both passions.  By doing that, I have sacrificed time with my husband, my family, and my friends.  I have stopped running and taking care of me.  So over the last few months I have taken a step back to see how I can simplify this hectic life I am living.

So for months of debates, tears, worry and words of encouragement from family and friends, I am taking a leave of absence from my teaching job.  After the decision was made, and I spoke to my principals about it, a million pounds lifted immediately. I knew I made the right decision for me and my family.  I have gotten so much support from my staff at school.  It made me remember and realize I have an amazing support system.

So, my bittersweet announcement is this:  I am taking a year to reflect, bring some clarity, and simplify my life.  Spend more time eating healthy and cooking meals. More time being a wife, sister, daughter, and friend. More time exercising and having quiet time.  But also more time to meet and be inspired by my amazing photography clients. I will only be taking a limited number of clients each week/month (and I am already booking into the fall!), so be on the lookout for more blogs, personal and about my amazing clients!

This is going to be a year to do more of this:

And MUCH more of this!

And making my clients laugh with my really bad jokes…

And hopefully seeing much, much more of my sweet niece Blair!

and get back to running…

and playing with my baby, Toby (who is in desperate need of a hair cut!)
and holding my husband’s hand…yeah, I want to do a lot more of that! (photo by the amazing Kamee June Photography)

Thank you so much for all the amazing support and encouragement I have gotten throughout the last two years.  I have an amazing support system, and I am realizing it more and more each day.  Excited to see what the next year brings.  Stay tuned… it is going to be a good one.
